This resource pack contains two engaging lessons developing children’s understanding of computers and information technology. They were designed as the third and fourth lessons in a 6-lesson scheme on computer systems and networks (aimed at children in lower key stage 2).
The two lessons included are:
1.Computers and I.T. in the World Around Us
Learning Objective:
-Understanding how information technology is used in the world around us.
Success Criteria:
-I can list some examples of IT in the home;
-I can understand how IT makes some jobs easier or better;
-I can explain some advantages and disadvantages of using computers for writing tasks.

Computer Systems and Networks (Lower KS2) - Lessons 1 and 2!
This resource pack contains two engaging lessons introducing the concepts of computers and information technology. They were designed as the first two lessons in a 6-lesson scheme on computer systems and networks (aimed at children in lower key stage 2).
The two lessons included are:

Europe: Physical and Human Geography (People and Places)
This interesting and highly-stimulating lesson enables students to describe and understand the key aspects of physical geography (e.g. climates, vegetation belts, flora, fauna, mountains, and rivers) and human geography (e.g. types of settlement, populations, use of resources, and trade) in the continent of Europe. Whilst gaining a wide range of knowledge about the content, students also become familiar with a wide range of vocabulary pertinent to the geography curriculum.
The lesson follows a clear, logical, bite-size learning journey, which guides students towards relevant and constructive learning objectives. Over the course of this journey, they become able to:
Identify Europe on a map, and identify the countries and regions within the continent;
Understand key information about the physical and human geography of the continent, through a fun, interactive quiz;
Retrieve, share, and describe their understanding of the physical and human geography of specific locations in Europe (Scandinavia, The Mediterranean Sea, Mount Elbrus and the Black Forest) through a jigsaw model task;
Complete a case study of the physical and human geography of their own place in Europe, and describe their findings to others;
-Peer assess each others’ descriptions using the learning objectives.
This resource pack includes:

African Country Study - Physical and Human Geography!
This interesting and highly-stimulating lesson enables students to create their very own African country geography study presentations. The lesson format and resources enables them to engage with varied geographical concepts including biomes, population, rivers, lakes, mountains, climate, borders and capital cities.
The lesson follows a clear, logical, bite-size learning journey, which guides students towards relevant and constructive learning objectives, and helps them to build their presentations. Over the course of this journey, they:
-Remember key facts about the African continent to contextualise their learning;
-Pick an African nation at random;
-Follow a clear checkist and model example, enabling them to create presentations with the following sections: Physical Geography Key Facts, Human Geography Key Fact, Biomes and Climate, Rivers, Lakes and Mountains, and Capital City.

Year 4 Guided Reading Comprehension Activities Booklet! (Aligned with the New Curriculum)
Now with PDF version included! This resource booklet contains a wide range of age-appropriate, engaging, and meaningful comprehension activities for use in guided reading sessions. They are perfect for aiding the progress of children towards meeting the Year 4 expectations within the new National Curriculum framework. Children love learning from these resources, whilst they are also of great use to teachers, as there is explicit information within each task regarding which comprehension strands the task is designed to demonstrate. They are also generic enough to ensure that they are appropriate for use with all texts.

Writing Recounts - Lesson 2 - Vocabulary Building!
This engaging and purposeful lesson is the second in a series of lessons that enable children to gradually build towards composing an effective, well-structured recount. The first lesson focuses on what recounts are, establishing the main features and techniques. Whilst this series guides children towards writing a recount about an imaginary safari, the resources could be reasonably adapted to suit your own chosen topic.
The eye-catching and comprehensive PowerPoint presentation guides teachers and children along the following learning journey:
-Knowledge recall - revisiting what children already know about recounts;
-SPAG starter: Word classes (nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs);
-Establishing a three-part structure for the recount;
-Watching a ‘virtual safari’ video (hyperlinked) to gain inspiration, and using a clear template and the five senses to build appropriate and effective vocabulary;
-Sharing and building upon one another’s vocabulary and ideas;
